Who are the Lions?
A Lions Club is part of the largest community service organisation in the world, Lions Club International, with over 1.4 million members that serve in around 46,000 clubs from over 200 countries.
The Tring Lions Club enjoy raising money for local good causes.
How do we raise money?
Helping to run the Hemel Hempstead Lions Bookshop in the Marlowes
Collecting outside local stores
Running stalls at local fetes and other events
Holding quiz evenings
etc. etc.
What do we do with the money?
100% of money raised goes to good causes as administrative costs in running the Club are paid for by members.
We support local charities and other local deserving causes, particularly for the young
We also selectively support major International appeals - we recently donated £1,000 to the Philippines. These type of donations are channelled through the local Lions organisation within the Country concerned
What else do we do?
Hold an annual Entertainments Evening for Tring's Senior Citizens
Sponsor a Dacorum Community Minibus
Hold a Carol Concert in the Forge Car Park every Christmas Eve
Provide transport to a variety of events for senior citizens, partially sighted etc
Respond to other requests for help.
Who can be a member?
Anyone over the age of 18 can be invited to join the chosen Lions club.
We meet twice a month, once for a Business Meeting at Pendley Manor and once for a social evening at a local pub or restaurant.
